With thoughts of moving in the summer we are working out what we are going to need to make our house a home.
Many yeas ago I remember watching a TV programme which showed ways of re-using objects, these were mainly objects like wooden pallets that could be used to make a bed base or old empty oil drums that with a bit of bike tyre inner and a blow torch you could create a comfy seat! Sounds a bit strange I know but it did look comfy and quite stylish.
This came into my mind last week and it got me thinking, no two manses will ever be the same and not knowing that makes it more difficult to decide what furniture to buy, particularly when you don’t have much money to spend…
Another idea came to mind…

Knowing that potentially every five years or so we may be moving, could we combine the use of something useful for moving along with being adaptable to be useful in the house. Knowing that between us we have a lot of books… and I mean a lot! The cardboard boxes we have them stored in will not last much longer so I started thinking about wooden boxes, somewhere in the back of my mind I knew I had seen them used as furniture. They would also double up for helping to move all the books and other things which we own, but we could use them as bookcases and tables. Not knowing how this suggestion would go down my initial suggestion was to get a few to have in the study as storage for books and files, the idea went down so well we may need quite a few more than expected as we now plan to make a sideboard out of them as well.
I wonder, does any one else have any other good suggestions for dual purpose objects like this?
