9th July – Rural Theological Institute
One thing I noticed about the work at TTS is how they are exploring local social issues – fighting for the rights of local people – challenging current views attempting to improve the lives of others. This is done through educating the students on the hardships of people living in Rural areas, just like those living in the cities and in the slums.
This beautiful area is currently under threat from land being acquired by the local airport, which means people will be moved and some will not gain what the land is worth.

Everyone should have the right to a fair price, for some it will be an improvement for others they will make a loss – understanding the complexity of rural living will help the students to be effective: particularly pastorally towards those they are serving.
We enjoyed some of the local produce before heading out on a trip to see a couple of the rural villages around the Institute.
