12th July – Final morning at TTS then our travels home started…
We were given a warm farewell from the Seminary at the end of morning worship, then we were taken with all our belongings back to Madurai Airport ready to start our long trip home.

We spent the first leg of our journey back together, we set out on the same plane to Chennai. Melanie, Pam and myself were due to stay on the plane and head to Mumbai while the students from Birmingham had a long wait before heading to Dubai.
Mumbai was an experience… we landed at the internal airport, took what seemed like a long bus journey around the airport to go and collect our luggage. We then knew we had to then go to the International airport, we were cutting it fine… having arrived nearly 2 hours late, the bus that was going to transfer us to the international airport was due to leave when we were supposed to be checking in for our next flight to Dubai. After a lot of waiting we eventually arrived at the international airport, we got our baggage checked in then realised we had to go through immigration again… the queue’s were huge. We were amazed when we managed to get to the gate 5 minutes before they were due to start boarding.
Dubai was ok, we had a long wait for our flight to Newcastle so we found where we needed to be and snoozed… though about 30 minutes before boarding we found they had changed the gate we were leaving from, so we then had to walk 10-20 minutes to get to the right place… from there it was a smooth transfer from Dubai to home.
The Birmingham group arrived back later than expected but that’s their story, everyone eventually arrived home, safe and sound.
An amazing fortnight experiencing a new culture and country.
