Meenakshi Temple & Shopping – India 2013

In the afternoon we had a visit to the Meenakshi Temple and a chance to do a little shopping. I struggled to find any material I like to get some outfits made up.. though others were more successful.

When we arrived at the Temple we found they would not allow us to take our cameras in! I was hugely disappointed as I had been looking forward to taking picture there. Once we had found a safe and secure place to leave our valuables the last of us went in. I did think that it was probably a good idea that I did not have my camera… it would have taken the whole day to get round taking photographs!

The architecture and carvings were stunning, I was also given a blessing on my head with the trunk of an Elephant. I did not like the fact that the elephant had a big chain around it’s leg, though on the other hand it was providing a steady income which will hopefully have made the owners look after the animal well.

We did some more shopping afterwards where I did get some material to have a couple of outfits made, it was a good afternoon looking around.
